The Genesee County Republican Party (GCRP) is aware of recent public statements and videos by Anthony Hudson containing language advocating violence against elected officials. Following our prior public condemnation of those remarks, Mr. Hudson contacted our Secretary on Thursday, February 19, and made threatening and intimidating statements directed toward named party officers, the County Chair, members of the Executive Committee, and leadership within the 8th Congressional District Republican Committee, including the statement that he was “going to war” with the Genesee County Republican Party. In subsequent public appearances and commentary, Mr. Hudson has also made false and unfounded allegations against party leadership and members.
The Genesee County Republican Party maintains a written Code of Conduct. Personal attacks, intimidation, and advocacy of violence have no place in our political process. Respect for the rule of law, including constitutional protections and due process, is foundational to our organization.
In response to subsequent public claims, Mr. Hudson has asserted that he was told he was “done” and “unwelcome at Republican events.” That assertion is false. The Genesee County Republican Party does not arbitrarily exclude individuals from its public events. Ticketed events are open to participants who complete the required registration or purchase process. Participation in official party functions such as county conventions, however, is governed by party rules and requires delegates to be affiliated Republicans. Mr. Hudson publicly declared his change in party affiliation on October 13, 2025.
The Burton Police Department and the Michigan State Police have been notified of threats made by Mr. Hudson, and police reports have been filed. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement as this matter is reviewed and will pursue appropriate remedies as advised to protect the safety of our members and our community.
The Genesee County Republican Party will not tolerate advocacy of violence, intimidation, or the misrepresentation of party actions from any individual, regardless of position or affiliation. Our original statement was rooted in a commitment to uphold standards of conduct that reflect the values Republican voters expect from those who seek to lead.
We encourage voters to consider not only a candidate’s policy positions, but also their ethics, morals, personality, and character when deciding who to support for elected office. True leadership requires respect for others and the ability to engage in principled discussion, without resorting to threats or inflammatory language, even when there is disagreement.
The Genesee County Republican Party remains committed to protecting our members, upholding our principles, and fostering a political environment grounded in lawful and respectful civic engagement. We will continue focusing on electing credible, steady leaders who demonstrate sound judgment and reflect the values and priorities of Genesee County Republican voters.
