It's time for Genesee County to experience a resurgence, and Steve Minnock is the person with the vision and capabilities to make it happen. Steve Minnock, a lifelong Michigander, is dedicated to ensuring the prosperity of our county's residents. As the owner of Grand Blanc Cement Products, a local small business, he possesses a deep understanding of our economy and strategies to enhance it. Steve Minnock has developed a comprehensive plan to rejuvenate and fortify our community, including supporting small businesses to stimulate job creation, reinforcing law enforcement to ensure neighborhood safety, balancing the county budget for responsible governance, promoting local colleges and trade schools to prepare students for successful futures, and maintaining local courts to uphold access for all county residents.
Elect Brain Flewelling
Brian Flewelling is a lifelong Davison resident and a 1995 graduate of Davison High School. Coming from a blue-collar family, his father was a lineman for General Telephone and a long-time member of the Davison City Council, while his mother raised Brian and his two sisters. She also worked as a paraprofessional at an elementary school. Brian worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator for many years, spent 13 years with the City of Davison Department of Public Works, and has served the Davison – Richfield Fire Department for 28 years, with over 20 of those years in leadership positions. In 2019, Brian became just the second full-time Fire Chief for the Davison – Richfield Fire Department after leaving the DPW. He lives in Davison with his wife and three youngest children and his oldest son, who is also a firefighter, lives just a few blocks away with his wife and three kids, in the house that Brian grew up in.
Throughout his years in public service, Brian has developed strong relationships with many elected officials and public safety professionals across the state, from police officers, firefighters, EMS and Medical Control to leadership and dispatchers at Genesee County 911. Over the course of his 28 years in the fire service, he has also served residents of the entire 9th District through mutual aid agreements, providing assistance and fighting fires in nearly every jurisdiction in Genesee County. Brian's construction and public works background has allowed him to develop a knowledge of infrastructure and brought him into contact with many great people with experience in water, sewers, roads, and technology. Additionally, his work to reform the Genesee County EMS system has helped him build connections with county, state, as well as private EMS officials.
If granted the opportunity to serve as 9th District Commissioner, Brian Flewelling will dedicate himself to ensuring that tax dollars benefit the district and serve the needs of its citizens. He aims to support and defend public safety, strive to protect out-county courts, fight to preserve and provide further opportunities for the expansion of EMS services, and ensure access to veteran services.
Brian promises to bring integrity, transparency, accountability, and availability to the office of the 9th District County Commissioner. He has been on call 24/7 his entire adult life, and that dedication will not change if given the opportunity to serve as Commissioner.

Shaun brings a wealth of knowledge and experience deeply rooted in his lifelong connection to Genesee County. Elected in 2018 to represent the 6th district, Shaun’s commitment to public service is built on his personal history in the area. He grew up in Swartz Creek, attending Swartz Creek Community Schools and working at his family's business, Shumaker's Sporting Goods, a beloved local institution for over 74 years. These early experiences instilled in him the values of hard work, vital customer service, and fostering community relationships.
After graduating from Northwood University, Shaun embarked on a successful career in the automotive industry. He and his wife, Jennifer, have been married for 22 years and live in Fenton Township, where they are raising their three boys. Inspired by his mother’s dedication to fundraising for the Whaley Children's Center, Shaun developed a deep commitment to giving back to the communities he loves.
Shaun’s passion for community service naturally led him to public office, starting with six years on the Fenton Township Board of Trustees. During his tenure, he focused on fiscal responsibility by balancing budgets, reducing long-term debt, and improving local infrastructure. Recognizing the need for practical leadership at the county level, Shaun successfully ran for the 6th district seat in Genesee County in 2018. Since then, he has worked diligently to ensure essential services and resources are delivered to his constituents.
With a proven track record of service, Shaun has demonstrated his ability to make a difference. His genuine commitment to his community is unwavering, and he is dedicated to continuing his work to improve the lives of the residents of Genesee County’s 6th district. His past achievements are a testament to his capabilities, instilling confidence in his ability to lead and serve effectively.
