Precinct delegates represent their neighborhood so they are elected directly by the voters of each precinct to serve as a bridge between them and their political party.
How do Delegates get elected?
Precinct Delegates are elected in the August Primary in even numbered years. Only Democratic voters choose Democratic precinct delegates and Republican voters choose Republican precinct delegates.
Each precinct is allotted a certain number of precinct delegates based on the past election. Your district or county chair will be able to tell you how many delegate positions have been allocated to your precinct and they can help walk you through the process of filling out the paperwork and filing a notarized Affidavit.
